Volleyball Falls In Sweep To Charleston

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The College of Charleston held off UNCW for a Coastal Athletic Association sweep on Saturday at Hanover Hall. The Cougars posted wins of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-21.

The Cougars remained tied for the conference lead at 12-3 and improved to 20-8 overall. The Seahawks saw their league record slide to 4-11 and 7-15 overall.

Emily Banitt held match-high honors for CofC with 19 kills and added a pair of service aces. Caitlyn Callahan, meanwhile, added 10 kills and five blocks.

Alexa Brezeault paced UNCW with nine kills while Grace Melnick and Sarah Thompson added eight and seven kills, respectively. Thompson tied her career-high with four aces.

The Seahawks and Cougars conclude the weekend series with a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
