Henderson Leads Seahawks At Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech upended visiting UNCW, 99-57, on Monday at Cassell Coliseum in the women's college basketball season opener for both programs.

UNCW's Taylor Henderson, a preseason All-Coastal Athletic Association selection, converted 6-of-12 from the floor and hauled in a team-high-tying five rebounds. Joining her in double-figure scoring was Jania Hall, who was making her debut for the Seahawks.

Isis Fitch, who was also making her UNCW debut, added nine points off the bench.

Matilda Ekh led the Hokies, who reached the second round of the NCAA tournament last spring, with 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds. VT finished with five players scoring double figures, including Ekh.

The Hokies shot 61.8 percent from the field and doled out 23 assists.

The Seahawks next visit North Carolina for a 7 p.m. start at Carmichael Arena.
