Women's Basketball Edges Presbyterian In OT

CLINTON, S.C. – Evan Miller's seven points in overtime lifted UNCW to a 78-74 win over Presbyterian on Thursday in women's college basketball action at the Templeton Center.

The Seahawks pushed their record to 2-2 with their first road win of the young season while the Blue Hose remained winless at 0-4.

After seeing Presbyterian wipe out a seven-point deficit in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Seahawks overcame an early deficit of its own in the opening minutes of overtime.

The Blue Hose built a 67-64 lead with 4:13 left in the extra period following a basket by Kishya Anderson. UNCW responded with a 9-0 run fueled by four points from Taylor Henderson and a long three-pointer by Miller for a 71-67 lead and 1:56 on the clock.

Henderson paced the Seahawks for the fourth consecutive game in scoring with 14 points. Miller and Ali Zelaya chipped in 12 apiece and Kate Hollifield finished with 10.

Anderson held game-high honors for Presbyterian with 23 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the field.

The Seahawks converted 23-of-26 from the foul line and the bench outscored PC, 22-0.

The Seahawks return to Trask Coliseum this weekend for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday against the Apprentice School.
