UNCW Falls To Pride In Opener

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW's Emma Chappell and Grace Melnick combined for 21kills in a four-set loss to visiting Hofstra on Saturday in college volleyball action at Hanover Hall.

The Pride pushed its overall record to 12-6 with the win and remained in second place in the Coastal Athletic Association with an 8-1 mark. The Seahawks fell to 5-11 and 2-7.

Chappel paced the Seahawks with 11 kills while Melnick added 10 of her own in addition to five blocks. Quinn Manley tallied 14 digs.

Hofstra's Constanza Perez Sain held match-high honors with 14 kills and Izadora Stedile chipped in 11. Chiara Corzo's17 digs were a match-high as the Pride posted a 54-36 advantage in digs.

The Pride hit .304 in the match.

The series concludes with a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
