UNCW Drops Non-Conference Contest vs. Wake Forest

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Wake Forest used a strong second half to surge past the UNCW men's soccer team, 4-1, in Tuesday night's non-conference action at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Demon Deacons hiked their overall record to 6-3-5 while the Seahawks dipped to 3-6-4 overall in 2024.

Wake Forest's Dylan Borso recorded a three-point night and was one of four Demon Deacons to score in the second half along with Basit Umar, Daniel Krueger and Nicolas Mancilla.

UNCW jumped out in front early when junior Jake Shannon buried a corner kick from Jack Clarkson into the back of the net in the 10th minute, the quickest score of the season for the Seahawks, to give UNCW a 1-0 lead it would carry into the half.

The Seahawks resume Coastal Athletic Association play on Saturday vs. Stony Brook at 2 p.m. UNCW will host the second annual "Olivia's Game", a Teal Out tribute game to celebrate the life and memory of Olivia Grace Knighton, the late daughter of UNCW Athletics Hall of Famer Brad Knighton.
