UNCW twice responded to two double-digit Stony Brook leads in the second period, including the quarter's last five points to enter halftime trailing 35-27.
A Sammy Ackles jumper made it a one-possession game, 40-37, with 6:05 in the third quarter. Stony Brook then went on a 12-0 run to push its lead to a game-high 15 points, 52-37, with 2:24 before the final period.
