Women's Soccer Falls at Northeastern, 3-0

BROOKLINE, Massachusetts – UNCW dropped a 3-0 decision at Northeastern as both teams opened Coastal Athletic Association women's soccer play at Parsons Field on Thursday night.

The Huskies upped their record to 3-2-1 with a 1-0 mark in the CAA. The Seahawks slipped to 1-5 with an 0-1 league mark.

Graduate goalkeeper Hanna Wise matched her season-high with six saves against 17 Northeastern shots. UNCW collected five of its seven shots in the second half.

Huskies midfielder Vivian Akyirem collected a goal and an assist in a three-point day. The 5-5 sophomore, along with Jessie Hunt, assisted Lauren Ahles' game-winning goal in the 37th minute and then scored a goal of her own in the 76th minute to ice the game at 2-0.

Northeastern added a penalty kick goal by Hunt in the 89th minute.

The Seahawks return to action next Thursday, Sept. 14, when they host the Hampton Pirates at 7 p.m.
