Stony Brook Turns Back UNCW, 3-1

STONY BROOK, New York – A pair of goals by Stony Brook's Jonas Bickus helped the Seawolves turn back the UNCW men's soccer team 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at LaValle Stadium.

The first-place Seawolves moved to 4-3-2 overall and 3-0-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Seahawks fell to 5-3-2 and 1-2-1 in the league.

UNCW held a narrow 11-10 shot advantage as both teams combined for 14 first half shots.

Stony Brook, who scored all three goals in the first period, struck twice in the first 11 minutes with goals by Bickus and sophomore forward Caleb Danquah. Freshman midfielder Alex Fleury assisted both goals while Lorenzo Selini also aided Danquah's marker.

Bickus again found the back of the net through the top left corner in the 28th minute on a pass by senior forward Olsen Aluc to make it 3-0.

A penalty kick goal by senior midfielder Pep Casas put UNCW on the board in the 38th minute to cap the day's scoring.

The Seahawks return home next Saturday, Oct. 7, when they host William & Mary at 7 p.m. for Los Seahawks Night at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
