Bryant's Late Goal Helps Seahawks Earn Tie

ELON, North Carolina – Sophomore Issy Bryant's first goal of the season helped UNCW earn a 1-1 draw at Elon in Thursday night Coastal Athletic Association women's soccer action at Rudd Field.

The Seahawks' record moved to 3-5-1 with a 2-1-1 mark in the CAA. The Phoenix are now 1-4-3 overall with an 0-2-1 mark in the league.

Bryant's late goal came in the 85th minute when she recovered a deflection by Elon goalkeeper Anna Hamner, who made a save on a Kayla Burroughs shot. Bryant corralled the rebound and fired a strike past Hamner to tie the game with under five minutes to go.

The Phoenix, who held a 10-3 shot advantage, took a 1-0 lead with under three minutes before halftime on a UNCW own goal.

The Seahawks return home on Sunday to play two-time defending league Champion Hofstra at Noon.
