UNCW Picked To Win CAA, Harden-Hayes Preseason All-CAA

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW graduate student Maleeck Harden-Hayes was named preseason All-CAA and the Seahawks were picked to finish first in the Coastal Athletic Association by Blue Ribbon Forecast in an announcement made on Friday.

The Seahawks were followed by defending conference champion College of Charleston, Drexel, Hofstra, and Towson to round out the top five.

Harden-Hayes, a guard, averaged 9.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while playing in 34 games in his first season with the Seahawks. He knocked down 41 three-pointers, fashioned a 38% shooting percentage from deep, and added a 90.3% mark from the line.

Last season, the Seahawks reached the CAA championship game for a second consecutive season and finished with a 24-10 mark.

Head Coach Takayo Siddle enters his fourth season leading the Seahawks and has posted a 51-19 record over the past two seasons, including a 32-10 mark in the conference. In six seasons combined as an assistant and head coach with the program, Siddle has been to four CAA Championship games.

Including Harden-Hayes, UNCW returns five players who made at least 14 starts in 2022-23.
