Seahawks Set For Fort Myers Tourney

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball team will head to the Sunshine State during Thanksgiving Week to participate in the Fort Myers Tip-Off sponsored by Intersport at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
 
The Seahawks will be joined by Murray State and Appalachian State in the Palms Division of the event.
 
UNCW and Murray State of the Missouri Valley Conference kick off the round-robin event on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, with a 1:30 p.m. tip at the 3,500-seat venue. The Seahawks then conclude the trip with a Tuesday matchup against rival Appalachian State at noon.
 
SunCoastArenaThe Seahawks have enjoyed tremendous success in tournament formats under fourth-year head coach Takayo Siddle. The Seahawks won the Mako Medical Asheville Classic in Siddle's first season before capturing the Roman College Basketball Invitational in 2022. Last year, the Seahawks took the Baha Mar Hoops Invitational in Nassau, The Bahamas.
 
Siddle's new club features an excellent mix of returning veterans and new talent. The Seahawks, 24-10 one year ago, have reached the CAA championship game the last two years and return Second-Team All-CAA performer Trazarien White, who averaged 15.3 points and 5.9 rebounds in an outstanding 2022-23 campaign.
 
Launched in 2018, the Fort Myers Tip-Off brings the nation's top college basketball programs together during Thanksgiving Week. The event, played on the home court of Florida SouthWestern State College, has become a staple of the Southwest Florida sports calendar.
 
Intersport, based in Chicago, has been an award-winning innovator and leader in the creation of sports, lifestyle, culinary and entertainment-based marketing platforms since 1985.
