Seahawks Introduce Comprehensive NIL Platform

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW Athletics has announced the launch of FLIGHT, an all-in-one platform for Seahawk student-athletes to connect with fans, brands, donors and others interested in using their Name, Image or Likeness.

FLIGHT provides various ways to interact with Seahawk student-athletes, including a partnership with INFLCR, one of the industry's leading providers in athletics endorsements and branding. FLIGHT also provides educational opportunities for our student-athletes which will include financial literacy and personal branding in the future. We are excited to utilize our campus resources as we begin this next step.

To show the commitment UNCW has to NIL, the department recently promoted Laura Pearson to Assistant AD for Administration. Pearson will be working closely with Seahawk student-athletes to provide NIL education and support. Pearson's role is the first in the conference specifically dedicated to NIL.

"In regard to our student-athletes, anything we do, we must provide a first-class experience," said Michael Oblinger, UNCW's Director of Athletics. "We have made several investments in our student-athlete support services. FLIGHT is another example of our continued investment in the student-athlete experience. For us to remain competitive in the ever-changing collegiate landscape, we must embrace NIL. Along with our partnership with INFLCR, our student-athletes will have a wonderful resource to maximize their NIL opportunities."

Fans, brands, sponsors and donors will be able to use FLIGHT to browse and connect with UNCW student-athletes within a marketplace for NIL activities that ensures institutional compliance with all NCAA rules. The platform is designed to provide student-athletes with tools to succeed, whether they are actively pursuing NIL opportunities or positioning themselves for personal and professional success following graduation. The Seahawk Exchange, a directory on INFLCR, is a way for UNCW's student-athletes to maximize their marketability. The 100 percent online marketplace will allow students to connect easily with individuals in the community in one place.

OneSeahawk, meanwhile, is a collective that operates independently from UNCW Athletics. It works directly with student-athletes to help them maximize their Name, Image and Likeness opportunities and was founded by Seahawk alumni to provide an avenue for student-athletes to make a positive influence on their communities.

INFLCR is a marketing product for UNCW's student-athletes to use in building their brands. Student-athletes will receive on-demand access to share photos and videos from games, practices and more directly from their phones.

"As an alumni, my time at UNCW played a key role in shaping my professional career. I have fond memories of being a part of the Seahawk community," said Kevin Barefoot, Vice-President of Business Development at INFLCR. "I feel honored to bring INFLCR to UNCW student-athletes, providing them with tools to succeed in NIL. It's exciting to be a part of helping Seahawk student-athletes unlock NIL opportunities within the thriving Wilmington business community and beyond."

INFLCR, based in Birmingham, Ala., is currently used by more than 3,500 teams and 70,000 student-athletes for brand-building.
