WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia – The No. 6 seeded UNCW women's tennis team continued its march to the CAA title on Saturday by blowing past No. 7 Drexel, 4-0, in the semifinals of the 2023 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championships at William & Mary's Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.

The Seahawks, who defeated No. 11 Hofstra in Thursday's first round and upset No. 3 Charleston in Friday's quarterfinals, improved to 13-8 and advanced to the championship match for the fourth time (2013, 2014, 2017, 2023). UNCW won the CAA title in 2014.

UNCW improved to 10-1 lifetime vs. Drexel, which finished its season at 11-11.

UNCW will face host and defending champion William & Mary on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Tribe has won 27 of the CAA's 37 women's tennis championships and finished as runner up on seven other occasions. W&M is 68-9 in the event since the conference adopted the current format in 1995.

In Saturday's victory over the Dragons, the Seahawks secured the doubles point for the third straight day in the tournament with victories at No. 3 and No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 tandem of Anna Daniels and Zoe Huffman trimmed DU's Isabel Cabrerizo and Aida Garcia Mendez, 6-4, to give the Seahawks an early 1-0 advantage.

Sophomore Stela Joksimovic then bumped the score to 2-0 by cruising past Cris Corte Gonzalez, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5 singles and freshman Eda Arli raised the score to 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-1, victory against Renata Lombera at the No. 2 position.

UNCW graduate student Lauren Gish then delivered her third clincher of the season by dominating Mya Fuentes, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4 singles.

The Seahawks registered their second shutout in the tournament and fifth of the season with Saturday's convincing win.
