WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia – William & Mary extended its winning streak to five matches by cruising past UNCW, 6-1, in Colonial Athletic Association women's tennis action on Saturday at W&M's McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
 
Playing indoors, the Tribe improved to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the CAA with the victory. The Seahawks had their two-match winning streak snapped and now stand 8-7 and 1-2.
 
W&M secured the doubles point with victories at the No 1 and No. 3 positions for a quick 1-0 advantage. Sophomore Hedda Gurholt and freshman Emma Pell clinched the point with a 6-1 decision over UNCW's Stela Joksimovic and Lauren Robbins at the No. 3 position.
 
The Tribe then swept the first three singles matches off the court to put the match away early. Alisia Manolescu, honored by W&M on Senior Day, clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Gabbie Glickstein at No. 6 singles. Manolescu pushed her record to 7-4 in dual-match action.
 
Freshman Eda Arli picked up the lone victory on the day for the Seahawks, defeating W&M's Sofiya Kuzina, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 2 singles. Arli raised her record to 8-6 this spring – all at No 2 singles.
 
The Seahawks only have three matches remaining in the regular season. The team will face Towson on Sunday (Apr. 2) in a 10 a.m. match in Williamsburg before returning to the North Carolina coast to host rival Charleston on Saturday, Apr. 15, in a 1 p.m. match at the UNCW courts.
