Seahawks Breeze Past Longwood, 4-0

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's tennis team picked up its first shutout of the new season early Saturday, breezing past visiting Longwood, 4-0, at the UNCW Courts.
 
The Seahawks, playing only their third home match of the spring, snapped a two-match losing streak and stand 4-3 on the season, including 3-0 at home. The Lancers of the Big South Conference are 3-3 on the year.
 
The No. 1 doubles team of Reece Falk and Bekhzod Rasamatov nailed down the early point for the Seahawks with a 6-2 decision over Longwood's Guillermo Cagigas and Luis Reis.
 
Following victories by Falck at No. 2 singles and Alex DeGabriele at the No. 5 position, sophomore Harold Huens of UNCW clinched the match for the third time with a 6-2, 6-2, verdict over Cagigas at the top of the lineup.
 
UNCW next travels to the Sunshine State for two matches. Coach Mait DuBois and the Seahawks visit Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton on Wednesday, Mar. 8, for an 11 a.m. first toss before moving over to Tampa to play South Florida on Saturday, Mar. 11, at 11 a.m.
 
UNCW's next home match is set for Wednesday, Mar. 15, when Illinois State visits the Port City for a 2 p.m. match.
