OCEANSIDE, New York – The UNCW women's team moved to 2-0 on its road trip to New York by defeating Colonial Athletic Association rival Hofstra, 5-2, late Friday at the Point Set Indoor Racquet Club.
 
The Seahawks improved to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the CAA with the convincing victory. The Pride stands 2-7 and 1-2.
 
UNCW trailed early after losing the doubles point, but swept five of the six singles matches to improve to 10-0 lifetime vs. Hofstra.
 
Hofstra led, 2-0, by picking up the early point and winning at No. 2 singles. Graduate student Lauren Gish got the Seahawks on the board with a 7-5, 6-4 straight set victory against Hofstra's Kaitlyn Ferguson at No. 4 singles and Zoe Huffman (No. 1), Anna Daniels (No. 3) and Gabbie Glickstein (No. 6) followed with victories to help the Seahawks even their road record at 2-2.
 
Glickstein, a freshman from Raleigh, collected her first career clincher, a 6-2, 6-2, decision vs. Hofstra's Abigail Higgins.
 
UNCW concludes its three-match road trip to the Northeast by visiting CAA newcomer Stony Brook on Saturday (Mar. 25) at noon.
