Jackson Registers Double-Double at Elon

ELON, North Carolina – Elon's Bria Harmon sank four free throws in the final 17 seconds to hold off a late UNCW comeback bid to give the Seahawks a 52-42 setback in women's basketball action on Thursday night at the Schar Center.

The Phoenix jumped to 9-19 and 5-12 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Seahawks fell to 5-23 and are 2-15 in the circuit.

Junior forward Lexi Jackson posted her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native, was joined by junior guard Evan Miller's 12 points, her fifth double-digit scoring effort in her last seven games.

Elon was led by guard Lenaejha Evans' game-high 18 points and was joined by center Evonna McGill's 10 points.

UNCW, down 48-32 with 4:10 left in the game, rattled off 10 straight points to close the gap to 48-42 with 1:01 remaining. The Phoenix limited the Seahawks to one field goal attempt, a Britany Range miss, the rest of the way as Harmon connected on four points from the charity stripe to hang on for the win.

Elon took a 7-4 advantage two minutes into the game and led the rest of the way, building a margin as large as 16 points in the fourth quarter, before UNCW played itself back into the game in the final minute.

The loss plants the Seahawks in the no. 13 seed in next week's CAA Women's Basketball Championship at the SECU Arena in Towson, Md.

The Seahawks next close out the regular season at home on Saturday vs. Northeastern. UNCW will celebrate Senior Day by honoring three players – Carrie Gross, Asia Henderson and Micah Hoggatt – prior to the 2 p.m. tip-off.
