Seahawks Win Second Match Of Season

CONWAY, South Carolina – The UNCW men's tennis team rallied from an early deficit for the second straight match in a dominating 5-2 victory over regional rival Coastal Carolina early Tuesday at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
 
The Seahawks, 2-1, cruised in singles play to hand the Chanticleers, 4-1, their first loss of the spring season in a match rescheduled from last Saturday due to unseasonable weather.
 
The Seahawks split their first two matches of the spring vs. top-ranked Virginia and Presbyterian and dropped matches at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles before sweeping five of the six singles matches against the Chanticleers of the Sun Belt Conference.
 
Senior Davide Innocenti (Florence, Italy) provided the clincher for the Seahawks, defeating Steve Mundt, 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 5 position.
 
UNCW returns home to entertain former CAA rival Georgia State on Sunday, Feb. 19, at noon.
