Seahawks Fall To Clemson In Men's Tennis

CLEMSON, South Carolina – Host Clemson claimed the doubles point and won three singles matches to defeat visiting UNCW, 4-1, on Saturday in men's tennis at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.

The Seahawks, 3-2, had their three-match winning streak snapped on the opening leg of a two-match trip to Clemson and Georgia Tech. UNCW is now 0-2 on the road. The Tigers now stand 9-3 this spring.

Clemson posted victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to notch the early doubles point before Matt Pitts extended the score to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-2, victory over UNCW's Bekhzod Rasamatov at No. 2 singles.

At the top of the lineup, UNCW's Harold Huens won, 6-4, 4-1, when Clemson's Ryuhei Azruma retired. The Tigers won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, however, to close out the match.

UNCW continues its two-match ACC swing on Sunday when the Seahawks travel to Atlanta to battle Georgia Tech. The next home match for the Seahawks is Saturday, Mar. 4, vs. Longwood at noon.
