NEWARK, Delaware – Delaware wing Makayla Pippin scored 18 of her career-high 25 points in the first half to turn back UNCW 83-47 in Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball action on Friday night at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Blue Hens improved to 13-9 overall and 6-5 in the conference. The Seahawks stumbled to 4-18 this year, including a 1-10 league mark.

Pippin, who recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds, was joined in double figures by sophomore forward Michelle Ojo (14), junior guard Tara Cousins (11), freshman guard Nakiyah Mays-Prince (11) and junior wing Rebecca Demeke (10).

Graduate guard Carrie Gross joined the 1,000 career point club with a pair of free throws at the 3:19 mark in the third quarter. The Clinton, Md., native finished with a team-high 15 points to become the first Seahawk since Lacey Suggs in 2020 to cross the thousand-point threshold.

Junior guard Evan Miller contributed a career-high 13 points in her seventh start of the season.

Delaware outscored the Seahawks 14-3 over the final 3:24 of the second quarter to carry a 43-24 lead into halftime.

The Blue Hens came out of the intermission hot from distance, hitting four of their first five three-point attempts to push the advantage to 61-31 with 4:42 to go in the third quarter and go on to coast to the home win.

The Seahawks next travel to Towson for a Sunday afternoon matchup vs. the Tigers at 2 p.m. at the SECU Arena.
