Seahawks Light Up The Scoreboard In Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Trazarien White's 21 points led five Seahawks in double digits while UNCW shot 60.9% from the field on Sunday in a dominating 119-50 win over NAIA foe Montreat at Trask Coliseum.

UNCW moved to 7-2 with its second straight win and 3-0 at home this season. The 119 points marked the third time in as many outings the Seahawks scored more than 100 points in a home game.

White was 8-of-10 from the floor, knocking down both three-point attempts and adding three free throws. Joining him in double-digits were Nic Farrar with 14 points, Maleeck Harden-Hayes with 13, and Eric Van Der Heijden and KJ Jenkins with 10 apiece.

Shykeim Phillips and Shemar Rathan-Mayes both finished with seven assists and did not commit a turnover. Donovan Newby and Van Der Heijden added four assists apiece.

The Seahawks committed just five turnovers in the game but converted Montreat's 25 miscues into 36 points.

The Seahawks shot 64.9% from the field in the first half to open a 62-28 lead. UNCW converted 11 Montreat turnovers into 18 points.

Michael Erbeck led the Cavaliers with nine points, all coming on three-pointers.

The Seahawks open their second five-game road stretch on Dec. 16 with a 3 p.m. start at Georgia Southern.

Notes: Seven assists for Rathan-Mayes equaled his career high … The 119 points scored were the most for UNCW during Siddle's four seasons … Khamari McGriff's nine points and six rebounds were career-high … UNCW's17 steals were two off the school record of 19 set in 1979 against Towson.
