UNCW Clamps Down On FGCU In 71-55 Win

Seahawks limit FGCU to season-lows in FG% and points

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Trazarien White's 22 points led three Seahawks in double-figure scoring as UNCW clamped down on Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday in a 71-55 win in men's college basketball action at Alico Arena.

The Seahawks improved to 5-1 with the win while the Eagles dropped to 1-6 with their fifth consecutive loss.

Joining White in double digits were Shykeim Phillips and Maleeck Harden-Hayes with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Harden-Hayes hauled in seven rebounds and White handed out three assists.

FGCU's 35% from the field was a season-low for the Seahawks and the Eagles were just 5-of-16 from behind the three-point line.

Zach Anderson, Chase Johnston and Isaiah Thompson each had 12 points apiece for FGCU. The 55 Eagles points were a season-low.

The Seahawks built a 37-25 halftime lead as Harden-Hayes and White had 11 points apiece.

UNCW continues its five-game road stretch with a 7 p.m. start on Nov. 28 at East Carolina.

Notes: UNCW held a 35-18 advantage in bench scoring and 24-20 in the paint … The Seahawks held the lead for 34:49 … UNCW went 2-1 on its trip to the Sunshine State … The Seahawks' largest lead of the game was 19 with 3:18 remaining in the second half.
