Women's Soccer Falls at Towson, 3-0

TOWSON, Maryland – Three different Towson players scored to hand the UNCW women's soccer team a 3-0 setback in Coastal Athletic Association action on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field.

The first place Tigers improved to 11-1-2 with an unbeaten 7-0-2 conference mark. The Seahawks dipped to 4-7-2 and 3-3-2 in the CAA.

Towson recorded 10 of its 17 shots in the first half that also saw two goals. UNCW was held to five shots.

The Tigers' Jasmine Hamid, the league's leading scorer, started the scoring early with a strike to the bottom left of the goal in the third minute. Hamid was aided by defender Reese Borden, who teamed with midfielder Rebecca Groseibl on midfielder Phoebe Canoles' goal in the 21st minute to give Towson a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Canoles, along with defender Maja Hansson, earned her second assist of the game late in the 86th minute when All-CAA performer Nia Christopher notched her 10th goal of the season.

The Seahawks return home on Thursday, Oct. 12, to host William & Mary at 7 p.m.
