Mount Olive Pushes Past UNCW, 51-47

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Mount Olive's Laila Anderson scored 15 of her game-high 22 points in the third quarter to push the Trojans past the UNCW women's basketball team, 51-47, in exhibition action on Monday night at Trask Coliseum.
 
Anderson was joined in double figures scoring by forward Reagan Hune's 19 points.
 
The Seahawks were led by redshirt freshman Taylor Henderson's 14 markers on 7-of-14 shooting. Freshman Kylah Silver added 10 points, with six coming from the free-throw line.
 
The Seahawks and the Trojans entered halftime even at 22-all before Anderson's scoring outburst pushed UMO's advantage to 41-34 entering the fourth quarter.
 
Trailing 50-40 with 3:17 remaining in the game, Silver and senior guard Evan Miller combined for seven unanswered points to cut the deficit down to three points, 50-47, with 47 seconds remaining on a Silver old-fashioned three-point play.
 
Anderson then converted the second of two free throws with two ticks left to ice the game, 51-47.
 
The Seahawks will open regular season play vs. The Apprentice School on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Trask Coliseum at 6 p.m.
