No. 7 Georgetown Turns Back UNCW

WASHINGTON, D.C – The UNCW men's soccer team closed out non-conference play with a 4-1 setback at seventh-ranked Georgetown on Tuesday afternoon at Shaw Field.

The Hoyas hiked their record to 10-2-2 in the first-ever meeting between the schools. The Seahawks dipped to 6-5-4 ahead of Saturday night's regular season finale at Elon.

Georgetown, who entered play with the seventh-highest scoring offense in the nation, totaled 18 shots against UNCW's five attempts.

Four different Hoyas scored including first-half goals by Jacob Murrell and Cole Parete. Georgetown's Kyle Linhares and Maximus Jennings connected on goals after halftime. Zach Zengue aided three of goals while Marlon Tabora also added an assist.

UNCW's Omar Aboutaleb gave the Seahawks an early 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the contest on an unassisted goal through the top-left corner. Murrell responded 16 minutes later with his equalizer before Parete's go-ahead score in the 35th minute.

The Seahawks next kick off against the Phoenix on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Elon, N.C.
