WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior forward Cannon Tootle scored a goal in his second straight game as UNCW tied Charleston, 1-1, in Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer action at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Saturday night.
The Seahawks moved to 1-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play. The Cougars also stand 1-1-2 with a 1-0-1 CAA mark.
The match was scoreless through 55 minutes until Tootle drilled in a goal to the left of the box to put UNCW ahead. The Swansboro, N.C. native was assisted on the score by senior midfielder Gabe Mercer, who also aided Tootle's marker last Saturday at Monmouth.
Charleston countered five minutes later on a corner kick by Leonardo D'Ambrosio. The sophomore midfielder shot the ball in front of the net and sophomore defender Tom Wilson found the back of the net to even the score.
The Seahawks next turn their attention to Tuesday's midweek home contest against South Carolina at 7 p.m.
