Seahawks Fall At Tar Heels, 2-0

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – The UNCW women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 10 North Carolina on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field.

The Tar Heels upped their record to 2-0 ahead of a road trip to Texas. The Seahawks dipped to 1-1 on the young season and will look to bounce back at VCU on Thursday.

UNC struck first in the 34th minute when redshirt freshman Ally Sentnor connected on her first career goal in her regular season debut off an assist by senior forward Emily Moxley.

The Tar Heels tacked on an insurance goal in the second half courtesy of a header by sophomore forward Emily Murphy at the top of the six-yard box. Moxley picked up her second assist of the game with a perfect chip to set up Murphy.

Both teams deployed two goalkeepers with Blair Barefoot getting the start and playing the first half for UNCW. The Wilmington, N.C. product combined with Hanna Wise for nine saves, the most by the Seahawks in 18 games dating back to Apr. 15, 2021, versus Northeastern.
