Seahawks Complete MBB Roster For 2022-23

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Coach of the Year Takayo Siddle has capped his 2022-23 UNCW roster with the addition of three more newcomers for the upcoming season.

Siddle has bolstered his club further by signing on Victor Enoh (Marist), Maleeck Harden-Hayes (North Dakota State) and Donovan Newby (Wisconsin-Milwaukee). The trio pushes the total of new players to seven for the 2022 College Basketball Invitational champions.

"We're very excited to welcome Victor, Maleeck and Donovan to the Seahawk family," said Siddle. "They're not only outstanding players who will be key contributors to the future of our program, but outstanding young men as well.

"Like many college teams, our roster has changed significantly heading into the new season. It presents a big challenge for our coaching staff. All of our new players are anxious and eager, though, to be part of our championship culture."

The 6-7, 250-pound Enoh, from Decatur, Ga., began his career at Memphis and has played the last two seasons for the Red Foxes in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

In two seasons at Marist, Enoh appeared in 44 games and made 16 starts. He averaged 3.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in two seasons, shooting 53.4 percent from the floor and 60.0 percent at the free throw line.

The Lagos, Nigeria, native started 14-of-28 games last season and ranked second on the club with 4.5 rebounds per game. He scored a season-best eight points and snared eight rebounds on Jan. 26, 2022, in a narrow loss to Saint Peter's, which became the first No. 15 seed in history to reach the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight. Enoh also grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds in a 62-53 victory at Siena on Feb. 18, 2022.

"Victor will bring some much needed experience to the roster," said Siddle. "He's played high level basketball against great competition and will give us an additional inside presence. He's very active on the boards and will be very popular with our fans because of his energy under the basket."

Harden-Hayes comes to the North Carolina coast after playing two seasons at NDSU. The 6-7, 185-pounder helped the Bison post a 23-10 record last season, playing in 30 of the team's 33 games. He averaged 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds, shooting 43.7 percent from the floor and 78.7 percent at the free throw line.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Harden-Hayes scored a season-high 15 points in NDSU's 87-69 victory at Denver on Jan. 10, 2022.

"Maleeck is long, athletic, and guards really well," said Siddle. "Our defense helps create offense, so it's important to have players who guard. Maleeck will be a great addition to our program. He values defense and will be a crucial part of our team in years to come."

The 6-1, 190-pound Newby is a versatile point guard who has three years of eligibility after transferring from Wisconsin-Milwaukee out of the Horizon League. The Chicago Heights, Ill., product started 23 of 32 games for the Panthers and averaged 8.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Newby reached double figures 11 times in 2021-22, shooting 42.5 percent overall and 39.3 percent from deep. He was nearly automatic at the free throw line for Milwaukee, draining 64-of- 71 percent (90 percent) at the charity stripe last season.

"Donovan is an exciting player who gives us another strong distributor at the point," said Siddle. "He's a very likable player with lots of personality, on and off the court. We're looking forward to seeing what he can do in our program as his game continues to evolve and develop."

The addition of the three players gives Siddle and his staff a cache of seven new players for 2022-23. The Seahawks are busy with summer workouts before kicking off preseason drills in the fall.
