Camels Stun Seahawks With Walk-Off Homer

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Bryce Arnold walked off the Seahawks with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to lift Campbell to a 9-8 win Tuesday evening at Jim Perry Stadium. The Seahawks had scored four runs in the top of the inning to tie the game.

The Camels improved to 6-7 with the home win while the Seahawks dropped to 7-5.

Zach Neto (1-0) was credited with the win, but allowed all four runs, two earned, in the top half of the ninth as UNCW wiped out an 8-4 deficit.

For Arnold, it was his second hit of the night as Neto and Jarrod Belbin joined him with multi-hit games.

Cody Benton (0-1) was tagged with the loss for the Seahawks.

Matt Suggs had three hits, including a game-tying RBI single with two out in the four-run ninth. Ethan Baucom added a double and homered, his second of the season. Dillon Lifrieri also homered with one out in the third.

How it happened: After Benton struck out the first batter of the ninth, Arnold belted an 0-2 offering over the wall in left to end the game.

Notes: Brooks Baldwin's hitting streak came to an end going 0-5 on the night … UNCW has now been walked off twice in the last three games, also losing to App State, 12-11, on March 5 … Bryce Cota, who played at Campbell as an undergrad pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth … Lifrieri's homer in the third traveled 404 feet … Opponents have outscored UNCW, 11-1, in the first inning this season … After 126 games between UNCW and Campbell, the Seahawks own a record of 84-41-1.
