Delaware Hands Seahawks Sunday Setback

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Delaware plated four unearned runs in the first two innings to hand UNCW an 8-3 setback in Colonial Athletic Association softball action at Boseman Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Hens, 17-10 (1-2 CAA), avoided the sweep to open conference play after dropping two games on Saturday. The Seahawks, 20-5 (2-1 CAA), wrap up their non-conference schedule at NC State on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C.

Delaware enjoyed big days from its top-of-the-order hitters Hanna Garber and Brooke Glanden, who combined for four hits, three runs, and a walk. The duo reached on the first two at-bats of the game to set up a three-run first inning for the Blue Hens, who never trailed in the game.

UNCW was led by right fielder Morgan Britt, who had two hits and a season-high three stolen bases. Senior Janel Gamache and freshman Mackenzie Amodeo joined Britt with two-hit games.

Freshman Graceyn Frost pitched her second complete game of the weekend to earn her eighth win of the season for the Blue Hens. Junior pitcher Amberlyn Pearce was tagged for four unearned runs in 1.1 innings in the circle for the Seahawks.
