Streaking ETSU Trims UNCW, 4-2

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Visiting East Tennessee State won its seventh consecutive men's tennis match by trimming UNCW, 4-2, on Tuesday at the UNCW courts.
 
The Buccaneers of the Southern Conference hiked their record to 10-4 overall and 6-3 in road matches with the non-conference victory. The Seahawks dropped the first match of a five-match homestand and had their ledger evened at 6-6 this spring.
 
UNCW claimed the doubles point for the fifth time this season when the No. 2 and No. 3 teams registered victories. The No. 3 tandem of Davide Innocenti and Reece Falck nailed down the early point with a 7-6 (0) tiebreaker over ETSU's Dimitri Badra and Francisco Lamas.
 
The Buccaneers won the first three matches off the court in singles, however, to take control and clinched the match when Yusuf Khamis topped Innocenti, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.
 
Freshman Harold Huens posted UNCW's lone win in singles, outlasting ETSU's Hugo Lobo, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, at No. 4.
 
The Seahawks continue their lengthy homestand on Thursday, March 17, 2022, with a 2 p.m. match against future Colonial Athletic Association member Monmouth at 2 p.m.
