Fobes Matches Single-Round Record at UCF Challenge

Orlando, Fla. – Junior Mallory Fobes matched UNCW's single-round record with a six-under-par 66 to lead the Seahawks during the second round of the UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Club on Monday.

Sixth-ranked Wake Forest surpassed Kentucky to take the tournament lead with a 269-team score on Tuesday. The Seahawks sit in 16th place with a 296-283=579 team score after the second round.

Fobes (75+66=141) bolted into a tie for 21st place after she recorded five birdies and holed out an eagle from 93 yards away on the tenth hole to secure the -6 (66) score for the third time in her career.

The East Bend, N.C. native first shot a 6-under-par 66 during the opening round of the River Landing Classic on Mar. 8, 2021, and followed it up with another -6 (66) score at the William & Mary Invitational last fall.

Senior Phu Khine (71-72=143) and freshman Malu Brinker (72-71=143) enter the final day tied for 36th place.

Khine continued her low-scoring ways with an even-par card that featured four birdies, including three over her first five holes. Brinker, meanwhile, carded a one-under-par 71 score with five birdies, bringing her total to seven birdies over the first two days.

The opening nine holes of the third round will be played on Monday due to the inclement weather forecasted on Tuesday. The remaining nine holes are scheduled to be played tomorrow at 8:45 a.m.
