Khine Leads Seahawks In First Round At UCF Challenge

Orlando, Fla. -- Senior Phu Khine recorded a 1-under-par 71 to lead UNCW during the opening round of the UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Course on Sunday.

The Seahawks stand tied for 17th place in the 18-team field with a 296-team score. Kentucky holds a one-stroke lead over Wake Forest after posting a 12-under-par 288 team score.

Khine, who is tied for 25th place, opened the tournament with two birdies in the first five holes.

Freshman Malu Brinker is tied for 38th place and posted an even-par including two birdies on day one.

Junior Mallory Fobes shot 3-over par while redshirt freshman Deborah Spair carded a 6-over par in the tournament's first round. Senior Alexis Jarrell notched a birdie on the 17th hole and sits at 10-over-par.

The second round of the UCF Challenge Invitational is scheduled for an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, Feb. 7.
