Seahawks Down Bison In Weekend Finale

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW softball team rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the fourth inning to beat Bucknell, 6-4, at Boseman Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks, who were the designated away team, plated three runs in the top of the fourth courtesy of RBI singles off the bats of junior Mary Sobataka and senior Logan Bjorson.

UNCW (8-1) took the lead in the top of the sixth after Bucknell (2-5) scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth. The Seahawks cashed in two Bison errors for two runs to go up 5-4 entering the final inning.

Sophomore second baseman Tayler Vitola added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when she poked an RBI single into the left-center gap to score catcher Anna Knox.
