TOWSON, Md. –The Towson women's basketball team used a 23-3 run at the end of the third quarter to break away from UNCW, 67-51, in Colonial Athletic Association play on Friday night at SECU Arena.

The Tigers improved to 19-5 overall and 10-3 in the conference. The Seahawks fell to 3-20 and are 0-13 in CAA play.

Asia Henderson, who earned her first start of the season, paced UNCWÂ with 10 points apiece.

Sophomore forward Allie Kubek led the Tigers with 18 points paired with eight rebounds. Junior guard Aleah Nelson added 11 of her 17 markers in the second half.

UNCWÂ opened the third quarter with five straight points to take a 32-26 lead at the 8:49 mark after Gross converted a pair of free throws.

Towson responded with a 7-0 spurt to jump ahead by one point, 33-32, before sophomore guard
Mary McMillan nailed a three-pointer to reclaim the lead, 35-32, at the 6:34 point in the third period.

The Tigers then exploded for 16 unanswered points to enter the fourth quarter with a 49-35 advantage.

The Seahawks led the entirety of the second quarter and held a 27-26 halftime edge over the Tigers before the decisive third act.

UNCWÂ continues its road trip on Sunday, Feb. 20, with a visit to James Madison at 2 p.m.
