Joksimovic Lifts Seahawks Over Eagles, 4-3

 
DURHAM, North Carolina – Freshman Stela Joksimovic trimmed N.C. Central's Lafi Joao, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 5 singles to lift UNCW past the Eagles, 4-3, in women's tennis action on Saturday at the Dr. James W. Younge Tennis Courts.
 
The Seahawks climbed to 2-1 on the young season by beating the state opponent. The Eagles slipped to 0-3.
 
UNCW swept all three doubles matches for the important early point and claimed the first match off the court in singles when junior Zoe Huffman outlasted NCCU's Jade Houston, 6-3, 0-6, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
 
But the Eagles stormed back with wins at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 3 singles to grab a 3-2 margin. Junior Lauren Robbins then equaled the score at 3-3 all with a clutch 6-1, 6-0, triumph over NCCU's Anaiah Jones at No. 6 singles, setting up Joksimovic's clincher.
 
The Seahawks begin a string of four straight matches at home on Friday, Feb. 18, when rival East Carolina visits for a 1 p.m. first toss.
