Seahawks Cruise Past Trojans In Men's Tennis

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's tennis team battled back from an early deficit to win its third straight match with a convincing 6-1 victory over visiting Troy on Saturday at the UNCW courts.
 
The Seahawks improved to 3-2 by taking the third match of a five-match homestand. Coach Mait DuBois and his club moved over the .500 mark on the season with superior depth in singles, claiming all six singles matches. Troy, 6-3, had a five-match winning streak snapped and fell to 4-3 in road matches this spring.
 
After the Trojans claimed the doubles point, the Seahawks got on the board in singles when No. 6 player Trey Mallory coasted past Troy's Christopher Tasker, 6-0, 6-3.
 
The Seahawks pushed the score to 2-0 on the next match off the court behind freshman Harold Huens' 6-4, 7-5, victory Troy's Manuel Bernard at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Reece Falk then made the score 3-0 by outlasting Troy's Noah Martens, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.
 
Seahawk sophomore Bekhzod Rasamatov clinched the match with a 7-5, 7-6 (5), triumph against Troy's Carles Anton at the top of the lineup.
 
The Seahawks play the fourth leg of their lengthy homestand on Friday, Feb. 18, with a 1 p.m. start at the UNCW courts.
