Seahawks Tap Chicago Big Man For 2023-24

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year Takayo Siddle of UNCW has traveled up to the Windy City for his first recruit of the 2023-24 basketball season.

Matt Moore, a 6-9, 215-pound forward out of Joliet West High School in Chicago has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the 2022 College Basketball Invitational champions. He joins UW-Milwaukee transfer Donovan Newby as Chicagoland players on the Seahawk roster.

Moore played his first three years of high school hoops at Hillcrest High School before moving on to the Joliet West program and Coach Jeremy Krieger for his final year. The versatile performer averaged 14.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists as a junior.

"Matt is a perfect fit for our style of play with his athleticism and versatility," said Siddle, whose club opened the new season on Monday at top-ranked North Carolina. "He has the ability to score from the perimeter off the catch and dribble and can play with his back to the basket."

A Prep Hoops top-25 prospect in Illinois, Moore enjoyed an outstanding AAU hoops season last summer for Coach Harrison Niego's Chicago Lock Down club.

The Seahawks play their home opener on Friday (Nov. 11) against Allen of Columbia, S.C., before traveling to Norman, Okla., to play Oklahoma's Sooners on Tuesday (Nov. 15).
