Anderson Scores in Fourth Straight Game

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior forward Jalen Anderson's equalizing goal in the 37th minute paved the way for UNCW to earn a 1-1 decision vs. Campbell in men's soccer action on Tuesday night at UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Seahawks, 6-3-6, concluded non-conference play ahead of a crucial Colonial Athletic Association showdown vs. first-place Elon on Saturday night. The Camels, 8-3-5, continue their season at home against Presbyterian next weekend.

UNCW registered 14 shots for the second straight game, its second-highest mark this season. Campbell recorded 11 shots, including three by Daniel Hernandez.

Anderson, who was assisted by Bachir Ndiaye, became the first UNCW player since Phillip Goodrum in 2019 to score four goals in four games when he tied the game after Campbell's Tyler Young provided the Camels with a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute courtesy of a cross from Hernandez.

All four of Anderson's goals in the stretch have either been game-winners or tied the game.

The Seahawks deployed a goalkeeper other than Gabriel Perrotta for the second game this year when Jacob Randolph produced a scoreless second half that featured two saves, including a one-handed block of a close-range strike by Hernandez.

The contest was the final tune-up before the second-place Seahawks play for their fifth CAA regular season crown against the Phoenix on Senior Night on Saturday at 7 p.m.

GAME NOTES: UNCW set a program record with its sixth tie … The Seahawks are on a four-game unbeaten streak … The 828 in attendance is the highest total for a men's soccer home game this season … There were eight corner kicks … Mikey Hernandez and Aysa Hamid played a career-high 34 minutes after starting the second half … UNCW had seven shots in each half … Adam Hillis and Jake Shannon were the only Seahawks to play the entire game … UNCW is unbeaten six of seven non-conference games.
