Seahawks Excel Academically In First Semester

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – As UNCW students make their way back for the start of the Spring semester next week, the school's student-athletes are celebrating an outstanding Fall term in the classroom.
 
The program's 330-plus student-athletes across 19 intercollegiate teams compiled a cumulative 3.428 grade point average.
 
A total of 265 (80 percent) of UNCW's student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or better. Sixteen teams posted at least a 3.0 GPA.
 
Notably, 52 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA in the first semester.
 
"On behalf of the Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) staff, we want to congratulate all student-athletes on an outstanding fall semester," said Dr. Shannon Pease, Interim Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support. "The SASS staff truly appreciates and thanks the coaches, administrators and faculty members for their continued support of our student-athletes."
 
The Beach Volleyball program posted the highest team GPA among the teams at 3.777, while the Indoor Volleyball team ranked second at 3.742. The Women's Tennis team finished third at 3.713.
