GREENVILLE, South Carolina – Junior
Mallory Fobes posted her second-straight under-par round with a 2-under-par 70 as UNCW closed out the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational with an eighth-place finish after the final round on Sunday afternoon at the Furman University Golf Course.
The Seahawks, who shot 9-over-par in the final round, closed the tournament with an 891 team score. Host Furman earned the team title in wire-to-wire fashion, firing an impressive 23-under-par to win the tournament by 32 strokes.
Fobes, who finished the tournament in a tie for 12th place, carded four birdies in the final round to move up 11 spots in the final standings. She ended the tournament with a team-leading 10 birdies, including nine birdies in the final two rounds.
Freshman
Malu Brinker secured her second straight top-10 finish after earning a share of seventh place after posting an even-par (70-73-73=216) tournament score.
Redshirt freshman
Deborah Spair finished in a tie for 32nd place with a 9-over-par 225, including a 3-over-par 75 in the final round. Freshman
Anna Wills followed in 57th place with a 234 tournament score (79-76-79).
The Seahawks continue their season on Oct. 15-17 by competing at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
