WILMINGTON, N.C. –
Brianna Haggerty held match-high honors with 17 kills for UNCW in a 3-1 loss to visiting Jacksonville on Friday at the UNCW Hampton Inn and Suites Landfall Classic.
The Dolphins ran their record to 3-7 on the season while the Seahawks dropped to 1-8.
After the Seahawks tied the match at 1-all with a 25-19 win in the second set, JU closed out the win with scores of 25-16 and 25-19 in the third and fourth sets, respectively.
Autumn DeSantis led a balanced Dolphin offense with 14 kills and added a pair of aces. Brianna Sanders finished with nine kills in 23 attacks and Kyndaal Stansbury added nine kills.
Camryn Honn posted a match-high 38 assists as JU hit .256 for the match.
Haggerty, whose 17 kills were also a career-high, was joined in double digits by
Katie Lanz with 15 kills in 29 attacks.
Annabell Schall posted a double-double of 15 assists and 10 digs.
The Seahawks continue play in the tournament on Saturday with two matches. UNCW faces longtime rival Campbell at 12:30 p.m. before closing out the weekend with a 5:30 p.m. start against UNCG.
