HIGH POINT, North Carolina – While UNCW faced an early deficit for the second straight game in its Thursday night women's soccer visit to High Point, the outcome was different this time.

Jordan Faveri each scored to lead the Seahawks to their first win of the season, a 2-1 victory over High Point at Vert Stadium.
The victory allowed the Seahawks to even their record at 1-1-0, while the Panthers stand 0-2-1 after losing for the second straight game.
High Point claimed a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when redshirt junior forward
Skyler Prillaman took a pass from junior midfielder
Fain Buete and slipped a shot inside the far post past freshman goalkeeper
Kaylie Bierman.
Nanni tied the game just over five minutes later when she collected a loose ball and fired a shot from the top of the penalty area past redshirt junior goalkeeper
Morgan Hairston.
Just under four minutes into the second half, the Seahawks pulled ahead when she scored her first goal of the season on an unassisted marker.
The Panthers had several chances to tie the game, but Bierman and the UNCW defense kept High Point from evening the score.
UNCW returns home on Sunday, Aug. 29, when the Seahawks welcome in-state foe UNCG for a 7 p.m. contest at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. High Point, meanwhile, remains at home to entertain East Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m.
