Morgan Nanni scored UNCW's first goal of the season in the second half, but was not enough as the Seahawks dropped a 2-1 verdict against VCU at the UNCW Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
UNCW, making its regular season debut, dropped to 0-1-0 on the young season while VCU earned its second win in as many games.

Emma Kershner, who scored on a breakaway chance for her first goal of the campaign.
Nanni trimmed the margin to 2-1 in the 60th minute for her first goal of the season. Junior forward
Jordan Faveri sent a crossing pass into the penalty area that was deflected by freshman forward
Emily Bowbliss. Nanni collected the deflected ball and scored on a shot from inside the penalty area to end the Rams' shutout bid.

Grace Young tallied two saves in the win for VCU, which outshot the Seahawks by a 13-6 margin. Making the first start of her college career, Bierman tallied five saves for UNCW.
