No 32 VCU Trims UNCW, 4-1

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – No. 32 VCU rallied from an early deficit to turn back UNCW, 4-1, in men's tennis action late Friday at the UNCW Courts.
 
The Rams won their fourth in a row and pushed their record to 12-1 this spring and 5-1 away from Richmond. The Seahawks, opening a four-match homestand, stand 8-4 overall and lost for the first time in six matches at home.
 
The Seahawks won the doubles point for an early 1-0 advantage. The No. 3 team of Gabriel Hurtado and Leonardo Sprovieri sailed past VCU's Charles Bertimon and Mario Duron, 6-2, before UNCW's top tandem of Bruno Caula and Daniel Groom secured the point with a 7-6 (2) victory over VCU's Inigo Torre Martin and Rayane Stable.
 
The Rams flexed their muscles in singles, however, taking the first four matches off the court to nail down the road win and improve to 14-5 all-time against the Seahawks.
 
The Seahawks return to their home courts again tomorrow (Apr. 3) for their lone Colonial Athlete Association match of the regular season against Charleston at 2 p.m. VCU travels to Winston-Salem on Sunday, April 4, for a 1 p.m. matchup against the No. 14 Demon Deacons.
