WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Sophomore Anna Daniels carved out a three-set decision at No. 6 singles to lift UNCW past Campbell, 4-3, in a women's tennis matchup of two longtime state rivals Thursday at the UNCW courts.
 
The Seahawks, playing the third match in a four-match home stand, evened their record at 7-7, including 3-3 at home. The Camels dropped to 2-8 and 1-4 on the road after falling for the fifth match in a row.
 
UNCW won the doubles point for the 10^th time in 15 matches when Daniels teamed up with fellow sophomore Brinley Bell for a marathon 7-6 (7) victory over CU's Lucile Pons and Mariana Ossa at No. 3 doubles.
 
The two squads then locked up in a tight duel in singles, with four of the six positions decided by three sets.
 
The Camels won the first two singles matches off the court to take a 2-1 lead in the match before UNCW's Charlotte Madison, playing No. 1, knocked off CU's Rhona Cook, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0, to square the match at 2-all.
 
CU won at No. 5 singles to forge ahead, 3-2, but Seahawk sophomore Zoe Huffman won at No. 4 singles, setting up the clincher by Daniels. With the match hanging in the balance, Daniels prevailed, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, over Tamsin Hart to nail down the victory.
 
The Seahawks close out their home schedule tomorrow morning (April 2) when Colonial Athletic Association rival Charleston visits for an 11 a.m. match. UNCW will recognize its seniors prior to the match on Court 1. Campbell next plays at Presbyterian on Thursday, Apr. 8, at 1 p.m.
