Volleyhawks Storm Back For Win

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Brynn Montgomery and Katie Lanz each had 12 kills as UNCW won the final three sets to shock homestanding William & Mary and complete a weekend sweep of Colonial Athletic Association play at Kaplan Arena.

The Seahawks improved to an overall mark of 3-8 and 3-5 in the league. The Tribe saw its record slip to 3-3 both overall and in the conference.

After forcing a fifth set, UNCW carried the momentum into the fifth set and closed out the match with a 10-1 run. Kyla Augustine and Brooke Hanshumaker combined for six kills during that run and Hanshumaker added a pair of blocks.

Augustine added 10 kills and six digs for the Seahawks.

Montgomery posted her fourth triple-double of the season and the seventh of her career. She finished with 18 assists and 11 digs.

At the net, UNCW built a 14-6 advantage in blocks with Madison Spencer's match-high seven leading the way.

W&M's Katie Dedrick and Julia Brown finished with 24 and 14 kills, respectively.

The Seahawks will wait to see how the other programs in the South Division fare over the coming weeks to see if they can advance to the conference tournament at Towson in early April.
