Volleyhawks Lose In Four At Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kyla Augustine led UNCW with 14 kills and 11 digs, but Charlotte earned a 3-1 win over the Seahawks on Friday at Halton Arena in non-conference volleyball action.

The 49ers improved to 13-5 with the win while the Seahawks fell to 3-9 and had their three-match winning streak halted.

Adding a double-double for UNCW was Brynn Montgomery with 34 assists and 12 digs. It was her Colonial Athletic Association leading ninth of the season.

Katie Lanz continued her strong play in the second half of the season with 14 kills and 12 digs.

Erin Foster and Sydney Rowan led all hitters on the night for the 49ers with 22 and 20 kills, respectively. Foster completed a double-double with a match-high 26 digs. Rowan added 15 digs of her own for a double-double.

The Seahawks won the opening set, 25-19, but the 49ers rallied to win the next three.
