Baseball Announces 2022 Schedule

Seahawks open with eighth straight home games

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Thirty-four home games, including eight straight to open the season, and 14 games against top-100 RPI programs highlight the 2022 UNCW baseball schedule released on Thursday.

"It's our goal every year to put a strong, competitive, and challenging schedule together and we certainly have for the 2022 season," said UNCW Head Coach Randy Hood, who enters his third season at the lead of the program. "Our early non-conference weekend's will prepare us for CAA play and our mid-week games are against some of the best teams in the country and are always challenging."

The season opens on Feb. 18 against Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders and Seahawks will be joined by St. John's that weekend with each team playing four games.

The following weekend, UNCW and Coastal Carolina co-host the Carolinas' Coastline Classic on Feb. 25-27. The Seahawks host Ball State, which finished in the top-50 of the RPI last season, and Big 10 members, Rutgers and Illinois.

In non-conference weekend series, the Seahawks head to Appalachian State (Mar. 4-6) and host Kennesaw State (Mar. 11-13), Ohio State (Mar. 18-20) and VMI (Apr. 1-3). The Ohio State series will be a four-game set with the teams meeting on Mar. 16 before the weekend series begins.

UNCW's daunting mid-week schedule includes home-and-home series with Coastal Carolina, Campbell, East Carolina, North Carolina and NC State.

In Colonial Athletic Association play, UNCW, which has played in each of the last six conference tournament championship games, hosts Hofstra, Towson, Elon and Charleston and visits William & Mary, Delaware, defending champion Northeastern and James Madison.

The CAA championship tournament will be hosted by Elon on May 25-29.

Season ticket renewal applications will be sent out the week of December 6th, with the priority deadline ending on Friday, January 14th, 2022 to renew your seat locations from the pre-Covid 2020 baseball season. Season tickets will go on sale to the public beginning on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, at 10 a.m.
