Carrie Gross made sure her return home was going to be a night to remember, tying her career high with 17 points, including 15 in the second half.

Unfortunately for the Clinton, Md., native, third-ranked Maryland spoiled her homecoming as the Terrapins handed the Seahawks a 108-66 setback in front of 3,695 fans at the XFINITY Center on Thursday evening.

The win allowed the Terrapins to remain unbeaten at 5-0, while UNCW dropped its second game and stands 1-2 on the early season.

Gross, one of three Seahawks to score in double figures, knocked down 7-of-9 shots from the floor and both of her free throws. She also added a season-high five rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

Graduate student guard
Sierra DaCosta added 15 points on 4-of-12 shooting from the field, including a 3-for-7 effort from three-point range, while sophomore guard
Evan Miller came off the bench to score a career-high 10 points.

Sophomore forward/guard
Angel Reese, one of five Maryland players to score in double figures, led the Terrapins with her third straight double-double, setting a pair of game highs with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Graduate student guard
Katie Benzan added 22 points, including a 6-for-11 effort from long range, while redshirt junior forward
Mimi Collins contributed 21 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard
Ashley Owusu and freshman guard
Shyanne Sellers completed the quintet of double-digit scorers with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Key Moment: Maryland overcame an early 4-1 deficit by going on a 16-1 run to take a 17-5 lead with 2:05 remaining in the opening quarter. Owusu tallied six of her points during the spurt.

Game Notes:
- After hitting just 5-of-19 three-point attempts in their first two games, the Seahawks converted 8-of-17 tries against the Terrapins … DaCosta and Miller accounted for five of the eight triples.
- DaCosta has scored in double figures in all three games this season, giving her 54 career double-digit efforts.
- Gross netted her second double-digit scoring effort of the season after scoring 13 points in the season opener against Mount Olive.
- Maryland outrebounded UNCW by a 43-27 margin, including a 20-6 edge on the offensive end.
- UNCW shot over 40.0 percent from the field for the second time in three games after shooting 46.3 percent against Maryland … The Seahawks were 17-for-31 in the second half.
Up Next: UNCW returns home on Saturday, Nov. 20, to face regional rival Coastal Carolina in a 2 p.m. non-conference contest at Trask Coliseum. The game will serve as the Seahawks' Pride Day.
